Co Antrim hotel closes after leaks discovered

A County Antrim hotel has faced the misfortune of having to close its doors just two weeks before Christmas after two leaks were discovered on the premises earlier this month.

The Marine Hotel, Ballycastle, is described as 'one of the area's finest hotels occupying an unrivalled seafront position in the heart of the Glen's of Antrim on the Causeway Coast'. The business has benefitted from over one million pounds investment in recent times, and has flourished under new management.

On Monday (11th December) the hotel shared news on social media of the temporary closure, and many commented on the post, offering words of support as well as praise for the business which has established itself firmly at the heart of the North Antrim coastal town.

In the statement, a spokesperson for the Marine Hotel said:

"We discovered two leaks at the hotel in early December and due to this the hotel will be temporarily closed from Monday 11th December whilst the works are carried out to repair everything.

"Areas in the ground floor will need to be lifted up, dried out fully and then new floors fitted.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding and cooperation at this time.

"The hotel is due to re-open on Monday 4th March 2024."

Staff at the Marine Hotel are still available to answer all enquiries and booking can still be made online for Spring 2024 onwards at marinehotelballycastle.com

The hotel spokesperson added:
