Causeway Coast Mini Club revs up for weekend extravaganza of Mini madness in Portrush

The Causeway Coast Mini Club (CCMC) is gearing up for an action-packed weekend celebrating the iconic Mini, with Dash O’ The O’rish – a superhero-themed gathering at Bushmills Distillery and run on Saturday, 30 August 2025, followed by The Morelli’s Italian Ice Cream Job – a spectacular static show at West Bay Car Park in Portrush on Sunday, 31 August 2025.


This vibrant event promises to bring together Mini enthusiasts, families, and car aficionados for a weekend filled with nostalgia, entertainment, and community spirit along Northern Ireland’s stunning North Coast.



Dash O’ The O’rish Rally at Bushmills Distillery

The festivities kick off on Saturday evening at 5:30pm at the historic Bushmills Distillery, where Mini owners are invited to don their capes and costumes for a superhero-themed meet-up for Dash O’ The O’rish.


The CCMC has called on all “superheroes” to ensure a “strong superhero presence at all times” and to “protect The Pits” during a whirlwind tour of the North Coast.



At 7:00pm he event will see participants dash from Bushmills to a secret meeting at The Pits before concluding in Portstewart.

The Saturday gathering is not just about showcasing beloved Minis; it’s a chance to snag raffle prizes and revel in the camaraderie of the Mini community.


“Costumes, capes, and superpowers welcome,” the CCMC announced, encouraging attendees to embrace the playful theme and show the North Coast has “the best heroes around.”



A grand celebration of 66 years of Mini


Sunday’s main event – The Morelli’s Italian Ice Cream Job – at West Bay Car Park in Portrush promises to be the highlight of the weekend, marking 66 years of the Mini’s enduring legacy.

Described as “the biggest Mini/MINI show in the country,” the static show will feature a stunning display of classic and modern Minis set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean.


The event opens for participants at 10:00am, with all vehicles required to be in place by 1:00pm for safety reasons, as stipulated by the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council.



General admission for the public is from 1:00pm. The event is completely free to the public, though organisers have planned a raffle with some fantastic prizes, with all monies raised being donated to Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice.


The day will be packed with family-friendly activities, including trade stands, an autojumble, and entertainment for all ages.

A special highlight will be the appearance of Derek Mathewson, star of the popular television series Bangers and Cash.


“Guess who’s coming to the show? None other than Mr Bangers and Cash himself – Derek Mathewson!” the CCMC enthused, inviting attendees to meet the motoring legend in person.

The static show will culminate in a prize presentation, with awards donated by JKC Mini, followed by the eagerly anticipated Morelli’s Italian Ice Cream Job Road Run, departing West Bay at 4:00pm.


This cavalcade is a nod to the Mini’s starring role in the classic film The Italian Job, adding a touch of cinematic flair to the day’s proceedings.

For those planning to participate in the Sunday show, online applications have closed, but entries will still be accepted on the day, with arrivals from 10:00am.


Organisers have stressed that all cars must be parked by 1:00pm and cannot be moved until the road run begins, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.


Spectators are also urged to exercise caution when walking around West Bay before this time to admire the impressive array of vehicles.




The CCMC has expressed excitement about the weekend, promising “a great day of MINIs, motors, and Morelli’s magic.”
