Man critically injured after being found unconscious in Ballymena town centre

A man remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital after being found unconscious with a head injury in Ballymena town centre early on Saturday morning.

Police are appealing for witnesses and footage as they investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, which was reported shortly after 5am.

Man found at town centre junction

Officers received a report at around 5.05am on Saturday, 19 September, that an unconscious man had been found at the junction of Alexander Street and Broughshane Street.

Police attended the scene, where Northern Ireland Ambulance Service personnel were already providing treatment to the man, who had sustained a head injury.

He was subsequently taken to hospital and police have confirmed that he remains in a critical but stable condition.

Police seek witnesses and footage

Enquiries into how the man sustained his injury are continuing, with police appealing to anyone who was in the area or may have captured relevant footage to come forward.

A police spokesperson said:

“Our enquiries are ongoing and we would appeal to anyone who saw anything or who has any information which could assist – including dash-cam, CCTV or other footage – to contact police using our witness appeal form, quoting reference 210 of 19/09/26.”
