Translink has issued a travel advisory for Enterprise passengers as essential engineering works by Irish Rail will result in a line closure between Dundalk and Dublin Connolly on Saturday 2nd, Sunday 3rd, and Monday 4th August 2025.

During this period, Enterprise cross-border services will operate a bus substitution service to ensure continuity of travel between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

For southbound journeys, passengers will take the train as normal from Belfast Grand Central Station to Dundalk, where a bus service will complete the journey to Dublin Connolly.

Conversely, northbound travellers will be transferred from Dublin Connolly to Dundalk by bus, before continuing by train towards Belfast.

Translink has confirmed that some cross-border train services will operate to adjusted timetables throughout the affected dates. Passengers are encouraged to verify their travel times in advance.

“Bus substitution times may differ from usual scheduled train departure times,” the operator said in its statement. “NI Railways tickets on the Dublin line will also be valid for use on Ulsterbus scheduled services.”

Translink is advising customers to allow extra time for their journey, and to plan ahead using the Journey Planner app or by visiting www.translink.co.uk.

Passengers travelling over the busy August Bank Holiday weekend are urged to check for updates before departure to avoid delays or missed connections.
