Ballymena United Football Club has announced that first team manager Jim Ervin has departed the club, bringing an end to his two and a half years in charge at the Showgrounds.

In a statement issued on Monday morning, the club confirmed the decision and expressed deep gratitude for Ervin’s service — both as a manager and as a respected former player.

The board said it wished to place on record its “upmost thanks to Jim and his staff for their efforts and support during his two and a half years at the Showgrounds.”

The statement continued:

“Jim will always be remembered as a legendary player for the club, and as manager for successfully guiding Ballymena United through one of the most challenging periods of our recent history.”

Interim Management Team Appointed

The club has now begun the process of recruiting a new permanent first team manager. In the meantime, Under-20s manager Ciaran Caldwell will take charge of first team responsibilities, assisted by Patrick McEleney and Sean O’Neill.

The interim team will oversee preparations for Tuesday evening’s BetMcLean Cup quarter-final against Larne — a pivotal fixture that will now take place under fresh leadership.

Ballymena United supporters will be watching closely as the club navigates this period of transition and looks ahead to appointing a new manager capable of steering the Sky Blues forward.
