Ballymena Show is set to return later this month with organisers promising a major refresh aimed at broadening the appeal of one of the area’s best-known agricultural events.

The annual show will take place on Saturday 30 May 2026 at Ballymena Livestock Market, bringing together farming traditions, local food, family entertainment, and new attractions under a renewed “Farming, Food and Family” vision.

Gates will open at 9:00am, with showing beginning from 10:00am, as visitors from across Ballymena and further afield are expected to attend for a full day celebrating local agriculture, rural life, and community spirit.

Food village and live demonstrations to take centre stage

One of the major additions for this year’s show is the introduction of a new Gourmet Food Village, showcasing a wide range of local producers, food businesses, and artisan brands.

Visitors will be able to sample and explore products from:

• Papas Mineral Co

• The Pantry, Bramble Hill

• The Pie Shop Moira

• Hinch Distillery

• Ben’s Ice Cream

• Pure Thai Sauces

• Get’er Brewed

• Jackson Roze

• Crawford Rock Ltd

• Adair Arms

• Peppup

Organisers say the new food-focused attraction is designed to celebrate local flavour, regional produce, and Northern Ireland’s growing artisan food scene.

Alongside the food village, live cookery demonstrations will run throughout the day from 10:00am until 4:00pm.

The programme will include two beef and lamb recipe demonstrations from Arlene and Hilary from LMC, as well as two baking demonstrations from Jill Bakes.

Visitors will also have opportunities to sample food and discover new products throughout the event.

Fresh focus aims to widen Ballymena Show’s appeal

Organisers say this year’s event marks a deliberate evolution for the long-running show, combining its established agricultural foundations with new experiences designed to attract a wider audience.

A refreshed entertainment programme is also being introduced, with activities and attractions planned throughout the day for families and visitors of all ages.

The updated format reflects a growing effort to position the Ballymena Show as not only a key date in the farming calendar, but also as a broader community event centred around food, local business, and family experiences.

Traditional agricultural roots remain at the heart of the event

Despite the refreshed direction, organisers say the Ballymena Show will continue to place strong emphasis on its agricultural heritage.

Traditional livestock classes, competitions, and displays will remain a central part of the event, highlighting the strength and diversity of the local farming sector and preserving the show’s long-standing connection with rural life across Mid and East Antrim and beyond.

For many in the farming community, the event remains an important annual showcase for livestock, agricultural excellence, and local industry.

Organisers promise “something for everyone”

Show Chairman Mark McAuley said organisers were focused on bringing “fresh energy” to the 2026 event while maintaining the character and identity that have made Ballymena Show a popular fixture over the years.

“This year, we’re bringing a fresh energy to Ballymena Show,” he said.

“By combining farming excellence with food experiences and family-friendly entertainment, we’re creating a day out that truly has something for everyone.”

The renewed approach comes as agricultural shows across Northern Ireland increasingly look to diversify their attractions to appeal to both traditional rural audiences and younger families seeking day-out experiences.
