£20m Roe Valley Resort transformation ramps up with new lodges, spa and family attractions

A major transformation of Roe Valley Resort is accelerating this summer as Galgorm Collection presses ahead with a £20 million redevelopment programme designed to reshape the Limavady destination into one of Northern Ireland’s leading tourism and hospitality hubs.

New accommodation, family attractions, leisure facilities, bars and dining concepts are now being rolled out across the resort, with further large-scale upgrades already scheduled through to 2028.

The latest phase of investment signals a significant expansion of tourism ambition in the North West, with Galgorm Collection positioning Roe Valley Resort as a key player in Northern Ireland’s growing international visitor and golf market.

Galgorm Collection acquired Roe Valley Resort in November 2024 as part of a wider £50 million investment deal which also included Galgorm Castle Estate.

Since then, the hospitality group has been steadily introducing new attractions and facilities across the estate, including a Helter Skelter, adventure playground, arcade and the new Italian restaurant Fratelli.

New attractions and accommodation arriving this summer

Among the most significant additions announced is Mussenden Lodge — a new £1 million standalone accommodation offering located around seven miles from Roe Valley Resort.

The four-bedroom lodge overlooks Lough Foyle and Binevenagh and has been designed to accommodate up to eight guests.

The premium retreat will include an outdoor hot tub alongside complimentary access to Roe Valley Resort’s swimming pool facilities, creating what Galgorm Collection hopes will become a high-end private escape within the wider resort experience.

A series of family-focused attractions are also scheduled to launch over the coming weeks.

New pool slides are due to open on 12 June, while a dedicated two-storey soft play area and a new bar and dining venue called The Leaping Hound will officially open on 3 July.

The Leaping Hound takes inspiration from local folklore and the legendary “Dog’s Leap” story linked to the origins of Limavady’s name.

The venue is being positioned as a lively social destination featuring live weekend entertainment aimed at both overnight guests and local visitors.

Long-term redevelopment plans already underway

The current projects form part of a much wider redevelopment strategy extending over the next several years.

Galgorm Collection confirmed the next phase of works will include a major upgrade of Roe Valley Resort’s lobby and reception area, with completion targeted before Christmas 2026.

A new indoor and outdoor adult spa experience is then expected to launch in spring 2027.

Looking further ahead, the group also plans to introduce new conference and event facilities in 2028 as it seeks to strengthen the resort’s appeal across both leisure tourism and corporate hospitality markets.

The continued investment is expected to increase the resort’s profile as a major tourism destination within the North West, an area increasingly being promoted internationally for golf tourism, scenic landscapes and luxury hospitality experiences.

The Roe Valley redevelopment also forms part of Galgorm Collection’s broader North West expansion plans, which include proposals for a new championship links golf course at Bellarena.
