Road traffic collision victim: Gabriel Johnston
A 22-year-old man from Belfast has tragically died following a road traffic collision involving a car and a lorry in the Lisburn area, police have confirmed.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, 6th May, at Sheepwalk Road, shortly after 5pm. Emergency services, including officers from the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, and the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, responded promptly to the scene.
The driver of the car, Gabriel Johnston, sustained serious injuries and was transported to hospital for treatment. Despite medical efforts, Mr Johnston has sadly passed away.
Inspector Cherith Adair, from the PSNI Collision Investigation Unit, provided further details on the incident:
“Police received a report of a two vehicle road traffic collision involving a car and a lorry at Sheepwalk Road, at shortly after 5pm on Tuesday 6th May.
“Officers attended the scene, alongside colleagues from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, and the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service.
“Gabriel Johnston, who was 22 years old and from the Belfast area, and was the driver of the car, was taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries following the collision but has since sadly passed away.”
The PSNI has launched a full investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the collision. Inspector Adair is appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant footage to come forward:
“Our investigation to establish the circumstances of the collision is ongoing, and we would like to hear from witnesses or anyone who may have captured dash-cam or other footage which could assist with our enquiries.

Police have not released further details about the lorry involved or any other injuries. The road has since reopened, and the local community is mourning the loss of a young life cut tragically short.
