Coastguard teams from Ballycastle and Coleraine were tasked along with colleagues in the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS), on Sunday afternoon (14 November) to an incident at the Giant’s Causeway in County Antrim.

A report was received at 2.20pm today after four individuals got into difficulty in the area of the Causeway stones.

Three of the four people who were located by the rescue teams, had suffered injuries when they were hit by a large wave as they attempted to take photographs.

According to the Coastguard report, one man, who had sustained a significant leg injury, was treated by the paramedic before being stretchered to safety by the Coastguard Team.

Two of his three companions had sustained less serious injuries and were given first aid by Coastguard Rescue Officers and National Trust staff.
