Wrightbus opens doors to future engineers with Apprenticeship Open Night and Insight Day

Leading UK manufacturer Wrightbus is opening its doors to the next generation of engineering and manufacturing talent as part of Northern Ireland Apprenticeship Week and National Apprenticeship Week, with two dedicated careers events at its Ballymena headquarters.


The bus maker will host an Apprenticeship Open Night and a dedicated Insight Day, offering up to 60 individuals the opportunity to explore careers in advanced manufacturing and engineering across a wide range of disciplines.



While the majority of opportunities will be at Level 2 and Level 3 apprenticeship level, Wrightbus is also keen to attract interest in graduate, undergraduate and higher-level pathways, reflecting the breadth of career routes available within the business.


Apprenticeship Open Night in Ballymena


The Wrightbus Apprenticeship Open Night will take place on Thursday 5 February from 6pm, at the company’s Ballymena site.


Prospective applicants will have the chance to meet the Wrightbus Learning & Development team, learn more about available apprenticeship pathways and gain first-hand insight into what it is like to train and work at one of Northern Ireland’s flagship manufacturers.

  • Vehicle Installation Electricians

  • Driveline

  • Spray Painting

  • Fabricator Welding

Insight Day for students aged 16+


In addition, Wrightbus will host an Insight Day on Tuesday 10 February, running from 9.30am to 2.30pm, aimed at students aged 16 and over who are beginning to consider their future career options.


The Insight Day is designed to give young people an early understanding of the world of engineering and manufacturing, allowing them to experience first-hand the range of apprenticeship opportunities available at Wrightbus.


During the day, attendees will:


  • Receive an overview of Wrightbus and its operations

  • Take guided tours of the Chassis, Body and Framing divisions

  • Meet engineers and learn about their roles within the business

  • Gain an inside perspective on what it is like to be an apprentice at Wrightbus



Apprenticeships offered include Vehicle Installation Electrician, Fabricator and Welder, Coachbuilder, Driveline Operator and Spray Painter.


Participants must be aged 16 or over on the day of the experience and able to travel independently to and from the Wrightbus factory in Ballymena. Further details can be found at:
