Woman taken to hospital after masked gang storm Bushmills home

A violent incident in Bushmills on Monday night left two occupants shaken and a woman injured after masked men armed with weapons forced their way into a home. The attackers ransacked the property before fleeing on foot.
Detectives have launched an investigation following what police have described as an aggravated burglary in the Mount Pleasant area.
Detective Inspector Hanbidge said:
“Police received a report on Monday, 2nd March at approximately 9.30pm that a number of masked men entered a house in the Mount Pleasant area.
“The men armed with weapons, attempted to apprehend a man inside the property – who was able to escape upstairs uninjured. This area of the home was also ransacked.
“A woman who was also in the house at the time sustained injuries after she was assaulted with a bat – she was able to escape into the garden.
“Her injuries required medical treatment in hospital – but are not believed to be serious. Both occupants were left extremely shaken and upset by what happened.
“The suspects left the scene on foot and enquiries are ongoing today to determine a motive and who was involved.
“We are keen to hear from anyone who may have CCTV, dash-cam or other footage of the area or who noticed anything suspicious. Please phone us on 101, quoting reference number 1750 02/03/26.”
Police are urging anyone with relevant footage or information to come forward.
