Woman arrested for burglary and assault after incident in Ballymena




Police have charged a 26-year-old woman following an incident in the Shetland Park area of Ballykeel, Ballymena, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning, July 2.


It is understood the female entered a house while the occupant and her young child were asleep at the time. When confronted by the homeowner, the female became violent, and assaulted the woman.



The assailant went on to assault police officers who responded and attended the property.


Following the incident, the injured woman attended hospital for treatment.



A police spokesperson said:


“A 26-year-old woman has been charged with offences including burglary with intent to commit grievous bodily harm, common assault and assault on police.


“She is expected to appear before Ballymena Magistrate's Court on July 28.


“As is usual procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.”
