A 40-year-old woman has died in hospital from injuries sustained in a three-vehicle collision in Lisburn at the weekend.

Karen Stewart, from the Portadown area, had been driving a Ford Kuga when it was involved in a collision with a Citroen C5 and BMW on the Moira Road, at its junction with Crewe Park Road.

Five people taken to hospital

Police received a report of the collision at around 11.06am on Saturday, 19 September. Officers attended alongside the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service.

Five people — four adults and a child — were taken to hospital for treatment following the collision. Police have now confirmed that Ms Stewart subsequently died from her injuries.

Detective Inspector Stewart, from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Collision Investigation Unit, said:

“We can now confirm that, sadly, a woman who was driving the Ford Kuga, later died in hospital from her injuries.

“Our enquiries are ongoing and anyone who witnessed what happened or has any information which might assist – including dash-cam or other footage – is asked to contact police using our witness appeal form at https://reporting.psni.police.uk/appeals, quoting reference 433 of 19/09/26, or to call us on 101.”
