Police officers from Antrim & Newtownabbey district delighted crowds in Ballyclare on Thursday evening (26 May) when they turned up to join in the light-hearted fun, though highly competitive, May Fair Soap Box Derby!
Team Wheeler Peelers donned the perfect protective gear, normally used and seen in more heated situations in Northern Ireland, and motored down the street, flying into a second place finish.
Commenting on the night of community fun, officers described the event as an “epic night”, and said:
“The Wheeler Peelers came a close second to The Rollin’ Donuts Team... how ironic.
“Well done to everyone who took part and to all that came along to this fantastic community event.”
Officers added: “Special mention to our water waster friends at the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service who did a fantastic job and ensuring we were well and truly soaked to the core.
“It’s the last couple of days of the Ballyclare May Fair - hope everyone has had a great time!”
