WATCH | Lighting up Carnalbanagh with 10,000+ lights while raising money for local charity

The McCaw family have been lighting up the darkness in Carnalbanagh every Christmas for a number of years now.

This year they’ve gone all out as the family, seeking to spread some Festive cheer while raising money for the Children’s Cancer Unit at the RVH.

Jayne explained: “If you know us (or have driven through Carnalbanagh at Christmas time and seen our house) you'll know that every year my husband decorates our house with so many lights it looks like a runway!

“This year we've ramped it up a bit with around 10,000 lights at last count - although he won't tell me the final number as more keep getting added! Luckily they are all energy friendly LED's.

“We hope the extra lights will help make the dark nights that little bit brighter and give everyone something to smile about.”

Jayne’s husband Adrian, being off work due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic and with the extra time on his hands, set about spending his energy and spare hours in putting up even more lights ever.

Jayne commented: “People used to stop and ask if we collected for charity, so

I figured this year we could do just that, as I know the charities are really struggling. I heard some families talking on the news about losing their children to cancer during covid and just felt moved to do something, so the lights were the obvious thing.”

The beautiful light display can be viewed and enjoyed every night in December between 5pm and 9pm. The little McCaw elves are in charge of switching on

and off!

“We hope you enjoy the lights! If you'd like to come and see the lights, just set the GPS for Carnalbanagh, and trust me, you won’t miss us. When you‘re driving by, give us a peep of the horn and if you can please donate. Every penny is appreciated. There is a roadside collection box or you can donate directly to the charity through our JustGiving page online at the link below.

“Wishing everyone a safe and Merry Christmas!”
