Valdez Gymnastics wins NI Club of the Year 2022!

Ballymena based Valdez Gymnastics has been awarded British Gymnastics - Northern Ireland Club of the Year 2022.

It is the most recent award received by the club which was established 20 years ago and operates from the dedicated and all-inclusive gymnastics facility located on the Woodside Road in the town. The club was also shortlisted to the top three sports clubs at Mid and East Antrim Sports Awards this year.

The prestigious Northern Ireland Awards, hosted by British Gymnastics, provide an annual opportunity to recognise and celebrate the achievements of it’s members and the priceless contribution they make to gymnastics across the Home Country.

Winning the Northern Ireland Club of the Year 2022 is recognition of the dedication and commitment of both staff and over 1,000 members at Valdez.

Commenting on the award, Julie Vauls from Valdez Gymnastics said:

“We are delighted with winning this award! I’m so happy to see our club going from strength to strength and being recognised for all our hard work.”

British Gymnastics Regional Manager, Rebecca Morrow, was full of praise for the local club, and told Love Ballymena:

“The British Gymnastics Club of the Year Award is designed to recognise a club that exercises dedication to increasing gymnastics participation; a club that develops its gymnasts using creative and innovative ways; and a club that actively embeds themselves in their wider community.

“Over the many years that Valdez have been operating, they have certainly achieved all of the above and more. It has been fantastic that in the last year Valdez has been able to expand their classes, including the establishment of a new boys squad, more rhythmic classes, ninja gym classes and increase the popularity of their play gym classes.

“As well as develop equally dedicated coaches, particularly through the development of a Young Leaders Academy - all whilst recovering from the effects of the pandemic. Valdez's ongoing position as an inclusive space for all also resulted in a fantastic achievement for one of their Disability Gymnasts who successfully competed at the British Disability Championships.”

Rebecca added: “Valdez have proven themselves as a well-rounded club that the British Gymnastics Northern Ireland team believe are deserving in the Club of the Year Award - we look forward to seeing what their continued growth has in store!”

Valdez offers a dedicated, all-inclusive gymnastics facility providing gymnastics coaching to children of all ages and sporting abilities.

From the extremely popular PlayGym sessions for the tiniest members through to teen and adult sessions, and from the highly sought after JuniorGym programme through to their successful competitive squads, Valdez provide suitable training options for all the family.

Both boys and girls are welcome to enjoy the club from recreational through to competitive squads. Valdez offers gymnastics training in Women’s and Men’s Artistic, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Tumbling, TeamGym, Pre-School, Ninja, Additional Needs and Adult Gymnastics.
