Trust warns Antrim and Causeway Hospitals over capacity and under extreme pressure

Northern Trust Hospitals, both Antrim Area and Causeway, are operating at over-capacity and extreme pressure this weekend, as the Trust warns those attending the Emergency Department that they may be in for a long wait.

A spokesperson for the Northern Health and Social Care Trust said:

“As our Consultant anticipated on Friday, Antrim Area Hospital is under extreme pressure today. Causeway Hospital is also under significant pressure.

“There are significant numbers of extremely sick patients in our Emergency Departments. Both hospitals are over capacity and we are doing all we can to secure safe discharges in order to admit patients from the Emergency Department.

“Our staff are working extremely hard but you may experience a long wait. Please be assured we are seeing patients in clinical priority.”
