Tributes paid following passing of well-known Ballymena barber


Tributes have been paid to well-known Ballymena man John Davison who sadly passed away on Thursday, November 24th.


John worked for many years from his barbers shop on Broughshane Street in the town before taking retirement. He also enjoyed playing a game of snooker and often visited the YMCA for a frame.



Broughshane Street businessman Eugene Diamond (Diamonds News) paid tribute to Mr Davison saying he was very well-liked.


"I was just talking to a former customer of John's who told me he was a wonderful person to go into as he always had a yarn," said Eugene.


"John's customers always talked about him with great fondness. He was a great character who ran a good business for many years and was liked by all of his customers."



A funeral notice was posted by James Henry Funeral Services, stating:


"Davison John, 24th November 2022, peacefully at hospital after a short illness, late of 66 Inchkeith Road, Ballykeel 1, Ballymena.


"Dearly loved husband of Anne, loving father of Lana and Carol, dear father-in-law of Mel, devoted grandfather of Jonathan, Trudy, Reuben, Emma, Ryan, Ross and Robbie and great grandfather of Adam.



"Funeral service in Henry’s Funeral Parlour 100 Broughshane Street, Ballymena BT43 6EE on Tuesday 29th November at 2pm, interment afterwards Ballymena Cemetery.


"House strictly private. Family flowers only please, donations in lieu, if desired, may be sent to James Henry Funeral Services (address above) for the Renal Unit, Antrim Area Hospital (please make cheques payable to NHSCT).


"Sadly missed by his wife, family and family circle.


“Safe In God’s Keeping”.
