Passengers across Northern Ireland are being urged to plan ahead for travel this St Patrick’s Day, as public transport services switch to holiday timetables.
Translink has confirmed that buses and trains will operate altered schedules for the St Patrick’s Day Bank Holiday on Tuesday, 17 March, affecting services across the network.
The changes mean many routes will run reduced or alternative timetables typically used during weekends or school holidays.
For bus passengers, Ulsterbus and Goldliner services – including airport routes – will operate Saturday and holiday timetables throughout the day.
Meanwhile, Belfast city services will also be adjusted. Metro and Glider services will run to a school holiday timetable, reflecting the lower commuter demand typically seen on bank holidays.
Rail passengers will also see timetable changes. Train services, including the cross-border Enterprise service, will operate a Saturday timetable on the bank holiday.
However, some Park and Ride facilities will not operate at all on the day. Translink confirmed that services for the Sprucefield (651) and Cairnshill Park and Ride (652) routes will not run on St Patrick’s Day.
Passengers are advised to check the timetable for their journey in advance using the Translink Journey Planner or by visiting www.translink.co.uk.
The reminder comes as many people travel across Northern Ireland for St Patrick’s Day celebrations, parades and events, which can place additional pressure on public transport networks.
