Police are investigating after three children were injured in a road traffic collision in west Belfast on Sunday evening.

The incident happened at Black Ridge View, shortly before 5pm, when a car, while reversing, struck two girls and a boy as they played on the pavement.

A police spokesperson said:

“Police in west Belfast are currently in attendance at Black Ridge View following a road traffic collision involving a car and three children.”

The children were taken to hospital for treatment. Their conditions are not yet known.

A 37-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of a number of driving offences, including driving with excess alcohol in breath, causing grievous bodily injury by dangerous driving, and failing to stop, report or remain at the scene of an accident causing injury. He remains in police custody at this time.

Detectives have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

“Officers would ask anyone who witnessed the incident or who captured dash-cam or CCTV footage which could be of assistance to their investigation to contact police at Woodbourne on 101, quoting reference number 1201 24/08/25,” the spokesperson added.

Police inquiries are continuing.
