Don’t know what to do with your natural Christmas tree over the next few days? The animals of Belfast Zoo want your unwanted Christmas trees!
Donated trees can be used for animal enrichment, ranging from scent play to shelter and food foraging.
Any excess Christmas trees which aren’t used by the animals will be recycled by chipping the trees. The tree chippings can be used around the zoo for various purposes, and as mulch for the flower beds.
If you would like to help make the ‘zoo a home’, you can leave your natural Christmas tree in the dedicated drop off area at the zoo between Saturday 1 and Monday 3 January 2022.
There is no charge to leave your tree however if you wish, you can make a donation in the Visitor Centre towards the zoo’s supported conservation projects!
