Significant policing operation in place across Northern Ireland

A significant policing operation will be in place across Northern Ireland over the coming Easter weekend.

Speaking about this operation Assistant Chief Constable for Local Policing, Bobby Singleton, said:

"This coming weekend will undoubtedly be a busy one for policing. With schools closed large numbers of people will be travelling to our coastal beauty spots or to visit family or socialise.

"We want everyone to enjoy their Easter break safely so our officers will be out and visible in communities across the country. I am appealing to everyone, but particularly road users and pedestrians, to play their part in keeping themselves and our communities safe.

"Easter is an important time for many people and there are nearly 80 parades and commemorative events planned over the coming days. A key role of policing is to facilitate public processions but it is everyone’s responsibility to ensure they parade safely and within the law.

"For anyone attending Easter commemorations our ask is that they mark it in a lawful, respectful and dignified manner. "
