Second man (33) remanded into custody for killing of Victor Hamilton




A second man has been remanded into custody today, charged with killing of 63-year-old Victor Hamilton, whose body was discovered in the garden of his Ballykeel home on Wednesday 27 July.


Mario Menezes, with an address of Portmore Street, Portadown, appeared this morning (Tuesday 2 August) via videolink in Antrim Magistrates Court, sitting in Ballymena.



A PSNI Detective Sergeant stated he believed he could connect 33-year-old Menezes to the murder of Mr Hamilton.


The accused was remanded into custody by Deputy District Judge Peter Prenter, with potential for a future bail application to be made by Defence solicitor James Hughes.



Yesterday, 29-year-old Mamadu Saido Djalo, with an address of Springfield Crescent, Belfast, was also remanded into custody Victor Hamilton’s murder.


A 23-year-old woman has been released on bail pending further enquiries while a man aged 33 arrested on Sunday, 31 July remains in custody at this time.
