Drivers were delighted when work began last week on the resurfacing of the road beside Sainsbury’s filling station in Ballymena. Sainsbury’s told Love Ballymena today that it is committed to being a ‘good neighbour’ and thanked the local community for their patience.
The condition of the road surface in the Braidwater Retail Park has been the focus of many conversations in the town over the last year, and especially, the focus of drivers eyes as they’ve attempted to avoid the many and varied potholes on the site.
Last week machinery rolled in and began the long-overdue resurfacing of the much used road.
Some locals expressed concern when they seen work cease and potholes roughly filled in. However, Sainsbury’s has confirmed that the road will be resurfaced, with works taking place on Sunday mornings over the next few weeks.

A Sainsbury’s spokesperson said:
“Contractors have commenced a programme of works to resurface around our Ballymena petrol filing station and we thank the community for their patience as this work is carried out.
“Over the next few weeks works will take place on Sunday mornings, with the work expected to be complete by the end of next month.
“Sainsbury’s is committed to being a good neighbour and we’ll continue to monitor the carpark and the access road to the site to ensure it doesn’t fall below our high expectations.”
The work will take place ahead of the store opening at 1pm to customers on Sundays.
There will be no work carried out this weekend due to Easter.
