Road users advised of expected delays as parades take place over St Patrick’s Day weekend

St Patrick’s Church Temperance

Road users are being advised of a number of parades taking place in the Ballymena area over the St Patrick's Day weekend.


Local police officers will be on the ground to accommodate the flow of traffic, but to avoid potential delays, police are advising motorists to please seek an alternative route for your journey where possible.



Ballymena Town Centre (Saturday 16th March)


• Ballymena and District Amalgamated Committee Apprentice Boys of Derry will parade on Saturday 16th March from at 1:15pm from Waveney Road, via Galgorm Road, to Princes Street.


• LOL No 1123 St Patrick's Church Temperance will be hosting a parade in Ballymena town centre on Saturday 16th March.


The parade is scheduled to leave Protestant Hall (Galgorm Road) at 1.30pm, proceeding to the Pentagon, and onward via Lower Mill Street, Wellington Street, Broadway, Ballymoney Street, William Street, Broughshane Street, Church Street, Castle Street, to St Patrick's Church.



The parade is scheduled to leave St Patrick's Church at 3.00pm via Castle Street Ballymena, and onward by Mill Street, Wellington Street, Broadway, Church Street, Bridge Street, Waveney Road, Galgorm Road, to the Protestant Hall.


Ahoghill & Cullybackey (Saturday 16th March)


St Colmanell's Church will host a parade on Saturday 16th March at 12:30pm.


The parade will depart Church Street in Ahoghill, proceeding along Glebe Road, Portglenone Road, Glenhugh Road, Ballyconnelly Road, Dreen Road B96, to Main Street in Cullybackey.


The return parade will leave at 1:00pm from Main Street in Cullybackey, via Fenaghy Road, Galgorm Road, Main Street in Ahoghill, to Chirch Street.



Broughshane (Sunday 17th March)


Braid District LOL No. 18 will host their parade in Broughshane this Sunday 17th March.


The parade will leave Beechvale at 2:15pm, before making its way onto Raceview Road, Main Street, Carnlough Road and back onto Main Street to finish at approximately 3:00pm.


The return route will then begin at 3:30pm on Main Street, proceeding along Carnlough Road, Main Street, Raceview Road and on to Beechvale to finish around 4.15pm.



Dunloy (Sunday 17th March)


St Brigids Accordion Band will host a parade in Dunlop on Sunday 17th March.


The parade will depart at 5:30pm from Tullaghans Road to Main Street. It will return at 6:00pm from Main Street back to Tullaghans Road, expected to finish around 7:00pm.


Broughshane (Monday 18th March)


Braid District LOL No. 18 will host a parade on Monday 18th March.


The parade will depart Beechvale at 12:00pm, proceeding along Raceview Road, Main Street, Carnlough Road, Tullymore Road, Carnlough Road, Main Street, Knockan Road to the Community Centre for around 2:00pm



The return parade will the Community Centre on Knockan Road at 3:00pm, proceeding along Main Street, Carnlough Road, Tullymore Road, Carnlough Road, Main Street, Raceview Road, Beechvale, Raceview Road, Main Street, finishing around 6:00pm at Broughshane Orange Hall.
