Red Bay Lifeboat launches to assist injured fisherman at Garron Point

Red Bay Lifeboat launched on service yesterday evening, Friday 30 July, after being tasked to the scene of an accident at Garron Point, County Antrim.


It was reported around 7.30pm that a fisherman had fallen on rocks on the shoreline and required immediate medical assistance.


The lifeboat crew were quickly on scene and administered first aid, before transferring the casualty to an ambulance crew at the lifeboat station slipway at Cushendall. The person, who was transported to Antrim Area Hospital, was suffering a suspected broken ankle.


The operation was cordinated by Belfast Coastguard.
