Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Councillor William McCaughey, has welcomed running sensation Sir Mo Farah to the Borough today, ahead of the Antrim Coast Half Marathon.

Olympic hero Sir Mo heads a long list of world-famous names arriving in Mid and East Antrim for Sunday’s stellar event, as well as a host of family-friendly activities.

While Sir Mo has been ruled out of competing in this year’s race – which he won in 2020 – due to injury, he said he is was excited to experience all that the Causeway Coastal Route and surrounding areas have to offer.

In addition to the elite and mass participation races, little runners will take part in the Kids’ Race, which will be started by Olympian Jo Pavey, who is joining in with her own family.

There will also be live music, urban markets, a kids' play area, street art and circus acts in the Sandy Bay finishers’ area, while Cornish singing group, Fisherman’s Friends, headline the outdoor after-party in Market Yard on Sunday evening.
