Randalstown parade to bring traffic disruption this weekend

Drivers are being urged to allow extra time or use an alternative route through Randalstown on Saturday evening, 19 September, with traffic disruption expected during Ballydunmaul Flute Band’s parade.

Police have advised road users to expect delays in and around the town between 8pm and 10pm as participants and spectators gather for the event.

The parade will leave Shane’s Terrace at 8pm and is expected to finish at the same location at around 10pm.

Parade route through Randalstown

Setting out the route, a spokesperson for the Police Service of Northern Ireland said:

“The outward parade will begin at 8pm, leaving Shane’s Terrace before taking the following route: Shane’s Street, Main Street, New Street, back down New Street, Main Street, Portglenone Road, turning into Neillsbrook, Moore’s Lane, Main Street, Shane’s Street and Shane’s Terrace, where it will terminate at around 10pm.”

The Parades Commission application suggests organisers are expecting around 28 bands to take part.

Police advice for road users

Police said the temporary disruption would be due to the number of participants and spectators expected.

The spokesperson added:

“Police will have an appropriate and proportionate policing operation in place, with officers present to manage traffic and public safety throughout the parade.”

Anyone travelling through Randalstown during the parade is advised to plan ahead. Police said:

“To avoid potential delays, please allow extra time for your journey and seek an alternative route where possible during these times.”
