Police in Mid and East Antrim have today, Wednesday 23 February, warned home owners living on the coastal area of the borough to secure their homes after a recent spate of burglaries.

Police revealed that criminals have been seeking properties where security is weak, after a number of homes where burgled in Islandmagee.

A spokesperson for the Police Service of Northern Ireland commented:

“There have been a number of burglaries reported in the Islandmagee area in the last few days. Criminals are actively looking for homes where security appears weak.

“Making sure your windows and doors are closed AND locked will vastly reduce the chances or your home being burgled.

“Residents and the Police are working together and have already returned this bicycle (pictured above) that was stolen in a burglary to its rightful owner. However, we need your help to provide information to make arrests and bring offenders to the Courts.

“Your neighbourhood teams are focusing patrols in the area and if you have any concerns or want advice, please contact us or our dedicated crime prevention officer.

“See something? Say something.”
