Police launch arson investigation after early-morning house fire in Antrim

A police investigation is under way after a fire was deliberately started at a house in Antrim in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and footage following the incident at Donore Crescent, which was reported shortly before 5am today, Saturday 29 August.

Property empty when fire started

Detective Sergeant Erskine said:

“At approximately 04.55am, police received a report of a house fire in the Donore Crescent area of the town.

“Officers attended alongside colleagues from Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, and the fire was extinguished.

“Thankfully, nobody was inside the property at the time of the fire but the front door was damaged by the ignition, which is believed to have been started deliberately.

“As such, this is being treated as arson. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the fire.”

Police appeal for witnesses and footage

Detectives want to hear from anyone who noticed suspicious activity in the Donore Crescent area around the time of the incident.

Police are also asking residents, motorists or businesses who may have CCTV, doorbell camera, dashcam or other footage which could assist the investigation to come forward.
