Police issue warning after spate of work vans being broken into in Ballymena

Police in Mid & East Antrim have issued a warning and advice after a number of ‘work vans’ have been broken into over the last week in Ballymena.

A police spokesperson commented:

“Over the last week we have received a few reports of work vans being broken into within Ballymena Town.

“Due to this we have increased our patrols and visible proactivity, but we also need the help and support of our community.

“We ask that if you notice anything suspicious that you contact us on 101 for non emergency incidents and 999 in an emergency.

“We want to help you feel safe and secure in your own homes.”

Here are some crime prevention tips:

• Keep your vehicle locked, windows shut and keys secure.

•If possible, don't store tools in the vehicle overnight.

•Don't leave any valuables, including power tools etc, on display.

•Park in a well lit area, in clear view of your property.

If you would like any more help or advice please contact police on 101 and ask to speak to the Crime Prevention Officer.
