Police issue urgent appeal over missing Glenarm man last seen in Ballymena

Police in Larne have issued an urgent appeal for information following the disappearance of William McCartney, a man in his 60s from the Glenarm area who has been reported missing.
William was last seen in Ballymena town centre at approximately 1pm on Thursday 31 July 2025. His sudden disappearance has prompted growing concern among officers and the wider community.
He is described as being around 5 feet 6 inches tall, bald, with short white hair on the sides. At the time of his disappearance, William was wearing black trousers, a grey polo shirt and brown shoes.
In their appeal, police noted that William drives a 2007 silver Honda CR-V and are asking members of the public to keep an eye out for the vehicle.
A spokesperson for the PSNI said:
“We are growing increasingly concerned for William McCartney who has been reported missing.
“Police would ask William or anyone who knows of his whereabouts to contact them on 101, quoting reference number 1525 of 31/07/25.”
Officers are urging anyone with information, no matter how small, to get in touch as soon as possible to assist with locating William safely.
