Police investigate racially motivated hate crime in Broughshane

Police are appealing for information after a report of criminal damage at a residential property in the Whinsmoor Park area of Broughshane late on Thursday, 26th June.
According to Chief Inspector Tate, the incident occurred shortly before 11:50pm, when a number of windows at the home were deliberately smashed.
Several people were inside the house at the time, but fortunately, no injuries were reported.
“Shortly before 11:50pm, it was reported that a number of windows were damaged at a property in the area. A number of people were inside the property, but there were no reports of any injuries following the incident,” Chief Inspector Tate stated.
Police have confirmed that the incident is being treated as a racially motivated hate crime.
“Enquiries are continuing and at this stage, the incident is being treated as a racially motivated hate crime,” Chief Inspector Tate added.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) is urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has any relevant information to come forward.
“Police would appeal to anyone with any information in relation to this matter, to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 2029 26/06/25,” said Chief Inspector Tate.
“A report can also be made using the online reporting form via www.psni.police.uk/makeareport. Alternatively, information can be provided to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org.”
The investigation remains ongoing as police work to establish the circumstances and identify those responsible.
