Police have arrested a man after he was observed driving on the wrong side of the road and flashing his lights at other oncoming vehicles.

Officers from the Road Policing Interceptor team were on patrol in the Ballymena area on Sunday 28th January, when they came upon the driver, who happened to be travelling toward them.

Commenting the following day, a spokesperson for the Police Service of Northern Ireland said:

"This vehicle (pictured above) was stopped by Road Policing Interceptors (Sprucefield) last night after it was observed travelling towards them in the Ballymena area. The driver was flashing their headlights at other vehicles to move out of his way despite travelling on the wrong side of the road.

"The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit and suspicion of possession of Class A and Class C controlled drugs.

"This incident could have ended in a completely different way had this vehicle not been stopped."
