Police appeal after motorcyclist seriously injured after collision on A26

A motorcyclist remains in a serious condition in hospital following a collision involving a van on one of Ballymena’s busiest commuter routes on Saturday afternoon.
Police have appealed for witnesses and dashcam footage after the serious road traffic collision on the Lisnevenagh Road near the junction with Woodgreen Road.
The crash happened at around 12.20pm on Saturday, 9 May, on the north-bound carriageway of the road.
Emergency services, including officers from the Police Service of Northern Ireland, the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and Air Ambulance crews, attended the scene.
Motorcyclist taken to hospital
Police said the collision involved a motorbike and a van.
The male motorcyclist was taken to hospital for treatment, where he remains in a serious condition.
The driver of the van was spoken to by officers at the scene and was not injured.
The incident caused concern locally, with the Lisnevenagh Road forming a key route linking Ballymena with surrounding areas and carrying significant weekend traffic.
Police appeal for witnesses and dashcam footage
Investigators are now working to establish the circumstances surrounding the collision and are urging anyone who may have seen what happened to come forward.
Police are particularly keen to hear from motorists who may have been travelling on the Lisnevenagh Road around the time of the collision and who may have captured footage on dashcams.
