Police: 25-year-old man released on bail following collision in Ballymena

Police in Ballymena have said a 25-year-old man, arrested following a serious road traffic collision on the Cullybackey Road, Ballymena, on Wednesday evening (22nd November) has now been released on bail to allow for further police enquiries.


The collision which occurred at the junction with the Teeshan Road and Sand Road, involved a car and a motorcyclist, and was reported to police around 5.45pm yesterday evening.



Following the collision police arrested the driver of the car "for various offences".


The motorcyclist, a 53-year-old man, was taken to hospital for his injuries, where he remains in a critical condition.


The main Cullybackey Road was closed for a number of hours following the two vehicle collision, but has since reopened.



Officers continue to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or to anyone with dash cam footage which could assist with their enquiries, to contact them on 101 quoting reference number 1419 22/11/23.
