Plans lodged for new GP surgery at Galgorm Castle Estate

Ballymena could be set for a brand new purpose-built GP surgery with plans lodged with Mid and East Antrim Borough Council for the new facility to be located on the Galgorm Castle Estate.

The new single-storey surgery shown with signage in architects drawings as 'Galgorm Surgery', will be sited on vacant land adjacent to existing business units approximately 135 metres south east of Galgorm Castle, Galgorm Road.

Plans include provision of car parking, drop-off provision, ancillary accommodation and landscaped spaces.

The planning application replaces a previous submission made in 2019 which included a proposal for a daycare facility at the site, before it was withdrawn when the proposer could no longer take the plan forward.

Floor plans for the 412 square metre Galgorm Surgery reveal the facility, if approved, includes three GP consulting rooms, a Pharmacist/Mental Health/Social worker consulting room, Practice Nurse room, Physio room, Minor Surgery room, Treatment room, as well as other general/ancillary areas.

The application will be considered in upcoming months by Mid and East Antrim Borough Council's Planning Committee.
