Charities, schools and community organisations in Ballymena can now apply for £5,000 to support projects intended to make a lasting difference locally.

Food company Pilgrim’s Europe has opened applications to its new Legacy Fund, which will support initiatives in communities surrounding its sites across the island of Ireland.

Who can apply?

The fund is open to a broad range of applicants, including:

  • community and voluntary organisations

  • charities

  • educational initiatives

  • cultural projects

  • environmental groups

  • youth initiatives

Applicants will need to demonstrate how their proposed project could provide meaningful support or create a lasting positive impact within their community.

Supporting locally led projects

Kirsty Wilkins, Chief People Officer at Pilgrim’s Europe, said the company wants to hear from organisations that understand the needs of the areas in which they operate.

“In the communities where our colleagues live across the country, we want our Legacy Fund to support organisations that understand the needs of their area and are working to make a genuine difference.

“There are so many charities, community groups and other organisations doing great work, and we’d love to hear from them. We’d encourage anyone with a project that could make a lasting difference locally to get in touch.

“We are looking forward to hearing more about the ideas, people and organisations making a positive contribution to our communities.”

How to apply

Applications are now open, with eligible organisations able to apply for £5,000 of funding towards a local initiative.

Further information and the application form are available here.

Organisations can also contact the Legacy Fund team by emailing: legacyfund@pilgrimseurope.com

No closing date for applications was provided in the announcement, so interested Ballymena organisations should check the fund’s website for the full criteria and submit their proposals as early as possible.
