Pedestrian suffers serious injuries after Co Antrim collision

A man in his 50s has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a collision involving a car and a pedestrian in Larne on Monday evening, with police now appealing for witnesses and dash-cam footage.

The incident happened in the Circular Road area of Larne at approximately 5.20pm on Monday, 13 April.

Police said the collision involved a black Vauxhall Astra and a male pedestrian aged in his 50s.

Emergency services, including colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, attended the scene, and the injured man was taken to hospital for treatment.

His injuries are understood to be serious.

Police launch appeal as investigation continues

Appealing for information, Inspector Ash said:

“At approximately 5.20pm on Monday, 13th April police responded to a collision involving a black Vauxhall Astra and pedestrian, aged in his 50s, in the Circular Road area.

“Colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service attended, and the pedestrian was taken onward to hospital for treatment to injuries which are believed to be serious at this time.

“The road which was closed for a time has now fully reopened to road users.

“Our investigation is continuing, and anyone who was in the area and witnessed what happened, or who may have captured any mobile or dash-cam footage, can contact 101, quoting reference number 1205 13/04/26.”

Road reopened after emergency response

The road was temporarily closed while emergency services dealt with the aftermath of the collision and initial police enquiries were carried out at the scene.

It has since fully reopened to motorists.

Police have urged anyone who was travelling through the Circular Road area around the time of the incident, or who may have relevant footage from a vehicle dash-cam or mobile phone, to come forward as enquiries continue.
