“Only be a matter of time before someone gets hurt” - problem scramblers in Ballykeel

A member of the community has shared their concern after witnessing three scrambler bikes being ridden on the river path between Ballykeel 1 and Ballykeel 2 estates, almost colliding with a mother and pram.

The concerned local said: “I’m afraid it will only be a matter of time before someone gets hurt.”

Over the years, scramblers have been a nuisance reported in a number of areas around Ballymena, and police have taken action before with bikes being seized.

Cllr Rodney Quigley

Commenting on the issue, Councillor Rodney Quigley said:

“The fact that these scramblers are being ridden on the footpath, is putting everyone in danger especially young children.

“I would ask those involved in this sort of behaviour to stop and think of the consequences of their very dangerous actions.

“People need to feel safe in their own communities and this sort of activity is totally unacceptable.”

If you have any concerns, you can make a report to police by calling 101.
