NI Water helps community charity Action for Children in Ballymena

A team of handy helpers from NI Water recently paid a visit to Action for Children in Ballymena, at the Ballykeel Children’s Centre to help enhance their facilities.

This is part of NI Water’s ‘Cares Challenge’ programme which is celebrating ten years as one of the largest corporate volunteering schemes in the province.

In the latest project, volunteers from across the organisation made a valuable contribution to the outdoor area helping with fencing, power hosing the children’s play area and general gardening.

This vital community charity helps to protect and support children and young people by providing practical and emotional care and support. In the Ballykeel children’s centre, staff ensure that vulnerable children get the best start in life.

To date over 1,500 staff have volunteered in 100 challenges, equating to more than 10,000 hours of volunteering to help support communities across Northern Ireland.

As part of the programme, activities are planned for various groups throughout Northern Ireland each year and are set up in partnership with Business in the Community’s NI Cares Programme.

The programme identifies organisations and charities within the community who need a helping hand with physical tasks such as gardening and painting.
