A violent thug who left his victim bedridden after a brutal assault in 2022 is still evading justice, more than a year after admitting the attack.
Christopher Simpson, from Glanroy Avenue in Portadown, pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm with intent and threats to kill in September 2023.
Despite his admission, Simpson has not been brought before the court to face sentencing — and remains at large.
Police have confirmed that a bench warrant is outstanding for the 32-year-old after he failed to appear at court on Wednesday 2nd April this year.
Today, Thursday 10 October 2925, in a public appeal issued by the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), officers shared Simpson’s photograph and urged anyone with information on his whereabouts to come forward.
“This is Christopher Simpson. There is currently a bench warrant outstanding for him after he failed to appear at court on Wednesday 2nd April,” a PSNI spokesperson said.
“If you know where he is, please get in touch immediately. Call 101 or phone the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
The case has been ongoing since 2022, when Simpson carried out a violent attack that left his victim bedridden and suffering lasting physical and emotional trauma.
Despite admitting guilt, Simpson’s continued evasion of the courts has left his victim without closure.
The PSNI confirmed the Op Relentless reference number for the case as CW 76 25/07/25, and reiterated that all information provided will be treated in confidence.
Anyone who may have seen Simpson, or who has details of his possible location, is urged to contact police immediately.
