AQE issue statement confirming full refund after tests cancellation

AQE Ltd have announced that parents and guardians of children registered for the 2020/21 AQE assessment will receive a full refund of £55. It comes after the tests were cancelled due to COVID-19.

Dr Darrin Barr Co-Chief Executive, AQE Limited said:

"AQE Ltd. has written to the parents and guardians of all of the children that had been registered for the 2020/21 AQE assessment to inform them that they wilol receive a full refund of £55 following the cancellation of this year's assessment, due to Covid-19.

"Although the registration forms stated that only £20 would be refunded if the assessment was cancelled, the AQE Board and its membership of 34 local Grammar Schools decided unanimously that an additional exceptional ex-gratia payment of £35 should also be provided, given this year's unique circumstances. We shall therefore be refunding £55 in full.

"As a not-for-profit organisation funded by its membership and parents/guardians, the AQE along with the member schools will be covering all costs in relation to the preparation for this year's assessment along with the refunds. We anticipate that all refunds should be completed within three months.

'We are truly sorry that this year's assessment could not proceed however the safety of the children must come first."
