A 29-year-old woman has appeared by in Coleraine Magistrates Court today, Friday 31 December, charged with a number of serious offences in connection with an incident that occurred in Ballymena on 13 November 2021.
Maria Covaci, of New Road, Silverbridge, in County Armagh, faced charges of sexual assault, two counts of kidnapping, two counts of false imprisonment, two counts of common assault, and two counts of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place, namely a knife and pair of hair clippers.
Covaci who was refused bail on grounds of fleeing the jurisdiction, and concerns that she may be liable to commit further offences, was remanded into custody to Prison at Hydebank.
The case has been adjourned until 27 January 2022, at Ballymena Magistrates Court.
