Motorcyclist killed in early morning crash near Marble Arch named by police

A 39-year-old motorcyclist has died following a single-vehicle collision in Co Fermanagh in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The victim has been named by police as Michael Kenna, from the Belturbet area of Co Cavan.

The fatal collision happened on the Marble Arch Road in Florencecourt at around 6am on Sunday, May 24.

Police, ambulance crews and firefighters all attended the scene, however Mr Kenna was pronounced dead at the roadside.

Police investigation underway after fatal collision

Detective Inspector Dave Stewart from the PSNI’s Collision Investigation Unit said officers received a report of a crash involving a motorcycle shortly after 6am.

He said:

“Police received a report at around 6am of a collision involving a motorcycle in the Marble Arch Road area of Florencecourt.

“Officers, along with colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, attended, however, sadly Michael was pronounced deceased at the scene.

“The Marble Arch Road, which was closed for a time, has since reopened.”

Appeal for witnesses and dash-cam footage

Police have now appealed for anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who was travelling in the area around the time it happened, to come forward.

Investigators are particularly keen to hear from motorists who may have dash-cam or other video footage which could assist enquiries into the circumstances leading up to the crash.

Detective Inspector Stewart added:

“Our enquiries are continuing and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have any information which could assist with our investigation – including dash-cam or other footage – contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference number 310 of 24/05/26.”
