Motorcyclist dies following collision with lorry in Co Armagh

A motorcyclist has died following a collision involving a lorry near Markethill in County Armagh.


The two-vehicle collision happened on the Coolmillish Road at around 11.40am on Friday, 10 July.


Police, the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service attended, but the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.



Police appeal for witnesses and footage


Detective Inspector Stewart, from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Collision Investigation Unit, said:


“Police received a report at around 11.40am of a collision involving a motorcycle and a lorry in the Coolmillish Road area of Markethill.


“Officers, along with colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, attended. However, sadly the motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene.”



The Coolmillish Road was closed for a time following the collision but has since reopened.


Police said their investigation is continuing and have appealed to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have relevant dashcam or other footage, to contact officers.


Detective Inspector Stewart added:


“Our enquiries are continuing and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have any information which could assist with our investigation – including dash-cam or other footage – contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference number 602 of 10/07/26.”
