Motorcyclist, 61, dies following single-vehicle collision in Omagh

61-year-old Patrick Deery


A 61-year-old man has died following a single-vehicle road traffic collision in the Omagh area on Sunday morning.


The deceased has been named as Patrick Deery, from the Dungannon area.


The Police Service of Northern Ireland confirmed that officers received a report of the collision shortly before 11am on Sunday, April 26. The incident involved a motorcycle on the Clanabogan Road.



Emergency services, including colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, attended the scene. However, Mr Deery was pronounced dead at the roadside.


Detective Inspector Dave Stewart, from the Collision Investigation Unit, said enquiries are now underway to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision.



He said:


“A report was received shortly before 11am on Sunday morning, of a collision involving a motorcycle on the Clanabogan Road. Officers attended the scene along with colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, however, Patrick was pronounced deceased at the scene.


“An investigation to establish the circumstances is now underway, and the Collision Investigation Unit is appealing to anyone who may have any information which could assist, or who was travelling in the area at the time and captured any dash-cam or mobile phone footage, to contact them on 101, quoting reference number 536 26/04/26.”



The Clanabogan Road, which had been closed following the incident, has since reopened.


Police are continuing to appeal for information as part of their ongoing investigation.
