A County Antrim-based company dedicated to fostering sustainable business practices is poised for significant expansion, thanks to a low-interest loan from Michelin Development.
AD Sustainability, a leader in delivering sustainability support services, is helping organisations across the UK and Ireland reduce costs and carbon emissions while promoting responsible business practices.
This financial boost is set to propel the company’s growth, enabling it to expand its expert team and reach new markets.
AD Sustainability, led by sustainability specialists Adrian and Sarah Davis, offers a comprehensive suite of services designed to help businesses achieve profitable and environmentally responsible operations.
From carbon emissions reduction planning to tailored sustainability strategies, the company has built a strong reputation in sectors such as manufacturing, hospitality, tourism, aerospace, and energy. Its client base spans Larne, Greater Belfast, Co. Down, and Co. Antrim in Northern Ireland, as well as Monaghan, Donegal, and Dublin in the Republic of Ireland.
The low-interest loan from Michelin Development has been a game-changer for the company, enabling it to recruit new team members and broaden its expertise.
This support has also facilitated AD Sustainability’s ambitious plans to expand into southern Ireland and mainland Great Britain.
Adrian Davis, co-founder of AD Sustainability, highlighted the transformative impact of the funding, stating:
“It has been hugely beneficial for running the business and focusing on delivering our expertise, with cashflow freed up from the support of the Michelin Development loan. Without it, we would not have had the confidence to take on new staff members, expand and focus on growth.
“We found the process dealing with Michelin Development very useful, allowing us to focus on understanding the opportunities and identifying where we can expand, whilst maintaining the level of quality service that we have become renowned for.”

Michelin Development, based in Ballymena, is committed to supporting high-potential small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in and around County Antrim, excluding Belfast.
The programme offers unsecured, subsidised loans of up to £100,000 to businesses in manufacturing, engineering, or business-to-business (B2B) service sectors with fewer than 250 employees. These loans are designed to support job creation, automation, digitalisation, and decarbonisation initiatives, aligning with Michelin’s broader commitment to environmental sustainability.
Noel Mulholland, a representative of Michelin Development in Ballymena, emphasised the programme’s alignment with the company’s values, saying:
“Michelin is very passionate about the environment and sustainability and to be able to support a local business like AD Sustainability, which focuses on supporting organisations with decarbonisation, is great.”
He added:
“Michelin Development is not just about financial support. Our aim is to contribute to the economic regeneration and long-term prosperity of the region. The programme provides an opportunity for Michelin Development to support the regeneration of the local business community and in particular the creation of quality sustainable jobs.
“We are here to support employment in and around County Antrim by helping high-potential firms and entrepreneurs turn their ambitions into reality.”
AD Sustainability’s growth has also been supported by the Go Succeed programme, delivered by Mid and East Antrim Borough Council in partnership with Michelin Development.
Laura McCourt, Business Client Manager at the council, praised the company’s progress, noting:
“AD Sustainability is a great example of a local buisness accessing a broad range of support in order to leverage growth.”
The partnership between AD Sustainability and Michelin Development underscores the potential for local businesses to drive meaningful change in the fight against climate change while fostering economic growth.
By enabling SMEs to invest in sustainable practices and create high-quality jobs, Michelin Development is playing a pivotal role in the economic and environmental regeneration of County Antrim.
