Meet The Gruffalo on his Northern Ireland tour!

Literary icon to make special visit to celebrate community with schools and children’s groups participating in The Big Lunch

Loved by children of all ages, The Gruffalo is making a special visit to Northern Ireland with The Big Lunch next month, in celebration of the Month Of Community.

Parents, childcare providers, youth workers and teachers are being offered the opportunity to enjoy a visit from the literary icon during his grand tour from 16 to 18 June.

In the Month Of Community this June, the much loved Julia Donaldson character, The Gruffalo, is being brought to Northern Ireland by The Big Lunch with help from Oscar nominated, Magic Light Pictures.

He will visit some very lucky groups, schools, nurseries and children's clubs to thank them for taking part in The Big Lunch, an idea from the Eden project made possible thanks to National Lottery.

Speaking ahead of The Gruffalo grand tour, Grainne McCloskey, Northern Ireland Manager, Eden Project Communities, said:

"We're excited to bring The Gruffalo to Northern Ireland once more. It will be a chance for children to meet the much loved character and for us to say hello and thanks to the people making The Big Lunch and Big Jubilee Lunch happen in their area.

“Whether you take part in The Big Lunch with two or three neighbours or with your class or wider community at any date this June our furry friend with terrible claws may just visit you this June.

"This visit celebrates the difference connected communities make and the fact that young people are neighbours too. Eden Project Communities work at grass roots level in bringing people together to create happier and healthier communities where people know one another. I would urge any individual or group that would like to apply for a visit from The Gruffalo to do so today, as his diary is filling up fast!"
