Mayor pays tribute to former Larne Councillor, Bobby McKee MBE

Mayor of Mid and East Antrim Borough, Councillor Peter Johnston, has paid tribute to former long-serving elected member, Bobby McKee MBE, who has passed away.

Mr McKee served as Mayor of the former Larne Borough Council on three occasions throughout his distinguished career in local government, which began with his election to Council in 1989.

Mayor Peter Johnston said:

“My sympathy is extended to Bobby’s wife Betty, his family and friends on the very sad occasion of his passing.

“He has been described by many as a gentleman who went out of his way to champion the needs of Larne during his many years as a councillor.

“Bobby held the Office of Mayor on three occasions, with his last term in 2011, and his legacy to Larne is an important one. I would like to assure his loved ones of my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.”
